In North Carolina over $2 million in total was lost by victims of scam con artist in 2012.  Romantic people looking online for love and companionship are losing money fast from con artist who develop a trust from the innocent victims.   Online sites for dating such as  Facebook, ChristianMingle.com, SeniorPeopleMeet.com and Match.com  are being looked at by con artist and they know how to gain your trust by developing long conversations and then they tell you they have an emergency and you need to send them money.  On one occasion a senior citizen victim sent $1 million to a con artist.  The victims usually do not realize until its too late and more than likely it is always oversees that the scam artist will ask you to wire the money.  Just be aware when money is asked to be wired to oversees and you do not really know this person, report this to the police.  The Consumer Protection Division did intercept 3 victims from going oversees.
